Healthy Diet Tips For Long

A personal commitment to your health is the key to having long term success with any weight loss you may accomplish. If you do not make lifestyle changes, you are extremely likely to gain any weight loss back once you resume your old eating habits.

Most of us have an emotional attachment to foods. We eat foods that give us comfort for one reason or another. It is vital to break free of emotional eating and focus on good health.

Following the tips listed below, you will lose weight and keep it off. Don’t consider these tips a diet plan or a program to lose weight fast. Rather, consider it a lifestyle change that will keep you healthy and facilitate weight loss in the process.

1. First and foremost – eliminate all processed foods! These foods are devoid of nutrition and loaded with ingredients that have been adulterated, contain preservatives and chemicals. They are filled with empty calories and make it difficult to lose excess weight. If you do need to purchase packaged processed products, adhere to the rule of 5. When a food contains more than five ingredients, don’t buy it. Putting this into practice, this tip alone will encourage big time weight loss!

2. Consume foods that are mostly raw. Pack your meals with organic fruits and vegetables. There are dozens of incredible raw cookbooks out there. Glance through some in the library or book store and check out all of the masterpieces you can create with simple produce. Being creative with your fruits and veggies will keep you from getting bored with eating sprouts and salads.

3. Drink enough water. Staying hydrated is so important. Be aware of drinking at least half of your body weight in water every day. Drinking herbal teas count towards your water consumption. Sugary sweetened juices and soft drinks do not! Try coconut water. It is nature’s Gatorade. It is completely natural and a delicious alternative to juice.

4. Don’t count your calories. Adapting your diet by eating the proper foods is enough. You do not need to count calories! If you can dump the processed foods from your diet, you will stop having cravings for unhealthy foods. The first few days of the elimination will be difficult and you may experience detoxification symptoms, but this will pass and you will then begin to feel great. Consuming high quantities of sugar brings on false cravings for sugar.

5. If you choose to eat meat, make sure it is from free range, grass fed animals. Animals that are fed a grass fed diet and are free to roam the farm are leaner and healthier. They are not pumped with hormones or fed corn products. When considering a meal consisting of fish, choose wild caught, deep water fish such as tuna, salmon, or mackerel. Wild caught (not farm-raised) fish are high in omega 3 fatty acids. These acids are important to heart health.

6. Consume whole grains. Quinoa, brown rice, spelt, and millet are great choices. Say goodbye to processed pastas that are made from white or even whole wheat flour. Focus on pastas made only from whole grains and water such as brown rice pasta or spelt pasta. These types of pastas are easy to digest and will not leave you with a bloated or full feeling.

7. Snack on nuts. Raw nuts that have not been salted are healthy and chock full of monounsaturated fats that our bodies need. Prepare your own trail mix at home by using a variety of raw nuts such as walnuts, almonds, pecans, and brazil nuts. To the nuts add dried fruits (without added sugar), some shredded coconut and raw cacao nibs (the HEALTHY raw form of chocolate that does not contain sugar and has not been processed). Shake up your concoction and dole it out into snack bags that you can take on the go. This trail mix is not only packed with nutrition but is filling and satisfying as well.

8. Cook your meals from scratch. This is definitely one of the most important healthy diet tips on this list! Making your meals at home from scratch ensures that the contents are fresh and pure. You will be moving away from foods that contain the chemicals, additives and preservatives found in processed foods. Consuming meals that are nutritionally packed is vital for long term good health.

9. Eliminate refined sugar! There are substitutes that are healthier and more nutritious. Refined process sugar is detrimental to health and is snuck into almost every processed food in one form or another. Some studies have likened sugar to poison. If you need to sweeten some food a bit, use stevia, honey or a quality agave nectar.

10. Keep driving by that drive through! Don’t eat at fast food places such as McDonalds, KFC and Burger King! If you find yourself in a situation where you must consume a meal from a fast food establishment, Wendy’s is a better choice. Some of the menu items Wendy’s offers such as baked potato (without any of the added toppings which are fatty) and various salads will at least take you through a meal without too much detriment to your health. However, even consumption of Wendy’s should be kept to a minimum.

How to Lose Weight and Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle

Obesity is today increasing at an alarming rate across the globe and it is one of the most emotionally disturbing problems. Though heredity is found to be the primary cause of obesity in most cases, many a times it has been found to be as a result of a person’s lifestyle choices. To keep away obesity therefore you need to maintain a healthy lifestyle. But how do you exactly define a healthy lifestyle?

Healthy lifestyle does not mean that you have to change your lifestyle completely upside down. Rather it means that you need to bring in small changes in your life. Such changes, when maintained will bring bigger and permanent difference in your health. So, here are few weight-decreasing-lifestyle-change tips that you must start following immediately.

1)Start exercising. Do any form of exercise that you like. Try out various forms of cardiovascular, strength training, Yoga, Pilate or weight training exercises.

2)Make a schedule of your exercise routine. Rotate your exercise regime to stay interested and not get bored.

3)Keep a journal to track your accomplishments.

4)Do not get stopped by setbacks. Always remain focused. A positive attitude will never let you give up!

5)Eat healthy food like nuts, seeds and olive oil. Include high-fiber foods such as vegetable salads and whole-grain pastas in your diet.

6)Choose foods that you like and stick to them. Learn to prepare healthy, low-calorie foods that taste good. Check out cook books for new healthy recipes. Remember that eating well does not mean you have to eat dull food.

7)Try to eat small frequent meals. This way, your body will increase its metabolism rate and the calories will get burned faster. Also, small meals can prevent bingeing.

8)Plan your meal ahead. Keep your fridge stocked with nutritional food. This way you will be less likely to binge in high-calorie, high-fat junk food.

9)Try to determine your favorite snack time. Try to have plenty of nutritional food stocked up with you so that you can eat these when you get hungry.

Always remember that digital scales never tell you how much calories your body is going to consume and how much of it is going to remain stuck underneath your skin as fat. Therefore, what matters more than what you eat is how much of it is efficiently burned by your body. How many calories of consumed food are burned during metabolism and other activities, and how many remain in your body. So, at the end, it is all about lifestyle.

Lifestyle Tips for Healthy Hair

Hair today, gone tomorrow…

Healthy and lustrous hair is half the battle won. Looking good depends more on a head full of healthy and shining hair, than some people give credit to. Hair is made up of dead cells and to keep it looking good and healthy, you have to really work on it. Start off by brushing your hair at least twice a day. Well-brushed hair looks glossy and shiny and is less prone to breakage and tangling. Many people tend to ignore their hair and just tie it up in a knot to go. Little do they suspect what major damage it causes to their tresses! Take out five minutes from your daily routine to brush your hair regularly to keep it shining.

There are loads of products in the market that promise to deliver healthy, shining hair with just a wash. While using good products is definitely important to keep your hair looking healthy and well-conditioned, it is more important to bring a positive change in your lifestyle if you want enviable tresses. Like any other cell in your body, like skin and nails, hair also is a reflection of what you eat. So what do you eat to keep your hair looking great? Here are some lifestyle tips for healthy hair.

Lifestyle tips for healthy hair #1

Eat Right: It is extremely important to watch what you put in your body. There are certain foods that contain protein, minerals and fatty acids that greatly contribute to shining hair. Salmon is one such food. It is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids, along with high-quality protein, Vitamin B-12 and iron- all of which are important sources of nutrition for the body.

If you want your tresses to shine, dig into all those green veggies! Spinach and broccoli are excellent sources of Vitamins A & C, which help your body to produce sebum, a natural hair conditioner. So while you give in to the temptation to buy the newly launched conditioner which promises thick, lustrous hair, remember the basic conditioner comes from within your body.

Legumes like kidney beans and lentils are rich in iron, zinc and biotin, besides protein. All of these aid in hair growth. Add three or more cups of lentil in your diet every week to see results.

Nuts like Brazil nuts and Walnuts are excellent sources of selenium and alpha-linolenic acids which help condition your hair and scalp. Cashews, almonds and pecans contain zinc which prevents hair fall; so make sure there is enough nuts in your diet for healthy hair.

Poultry and eggs are excellent sources of high-quality protein. Lack of protein causes hair loss and in extreme cases, hair color loss as well.

Hydrate. Water plays a major role in maintaining healthy tresses, and make sure you drink at least 10-12 glasses of water every day to keep your hair shining.

Lifestyle tips for healthy hair #2

Exercise: Life often doesn’t provide many opportunities to take care of ourselves. In the process of keeping up with the fast-paced world, people very often neglect their own selves. Exercise, besides keeping you fit and happy, also plays a huge role in keeping your blood circulation running properly. This flushes out the toxins and supplies more oxygen to all the cells, making your skin glow. Your scalp also receives better flow of oxygen that unclogs pores and helps your skin breathe.

How to Start Your New Healthy Lifestyle

Have you ever noticed that you can always find a reason to put off ’til tomorrow what you can do today? This is especially true when it comes to starting a new healthy lifestyle. Maybe you have a girls trip coming up, an anniversary to celebrate, a birthday party to attend, or it’s Wednesday and you prefer to wait until Monday to be healthy. What ever the excuse may be that you use to rationalize procrastinating the start of your new healthy lifestyle, I’m here to tell you to cut it out! There is absolutely no reason for you to delay your personal health and wellness. After all, today is the first day of the rest of your life!

Here are three tips to help you start your new healthy lifestyle today!

Tip #1: Be Honest With Your Self: Honesty is the best policy. If you fall under the category of “excuse maker”, you need to own up to it if you have any hope of making a change. Once you can admit that you are making excuses to delay your new healthy lifestyle, you will be able to move forward and do what you have to do in order to get started today!

Tip #2: Make a Plan: I’m a big fan of making a plan. If you have a plan in place, you are one step ahead of the game in terms of getting started on your personal quest for health and well ness. Your plan will need to address both exercise and nutrition. Devising a plan for yourself will create structure, bring about discipline, and lay the foundation for your new healthy lifestyle.

If you recently decided to embark on your new healthy lifestyle but you have a trip planned with the girls for example, don’t wait until you get back to start. Instead, start today and call ahead to the hotel to see if they have a gym. If the answer is yes you’re all set. If the answer is no, ask if there is a gym nearby that they can recommend. Most gyms allow you to pay a visitor’s fee for the day. A park is a great place to get your workout in as well. You could also bring an exercise video or dvd and workout in the comfort of your hotel room. A quick call to your hotel will provide you with all the information you need to make your exercise plan. You most likely will be getting an early start to your day in order to fit your workout in, but think of all the energy you’ll have for the rest of the day!

The second part of your plan is nutrition related. Most people tend to throw caution to the wind and go hog wild in terms of food because they are on “vacation.” This can lead to a lot of guilt upon the return home and the dreaded task of working off those extra pounds. Instead, make a plan to make smart choices for your meals while you’re away. You may even want to pack some healthy snacks from home for your mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks. Most restaurants provide an array of healthy options these days and you can always make amendments to menu items in an effort to eat healthy. Most eating establishments are willing to grant your requests. Then decide when, where, and how you would like to indulge in your cheat meal during your trip. Not cheat meals, not cheat days, but cheat meal! You’ll feel much better on your return home in that you practiced self control!

Tip #3: Execute, Execute, Execute: There is no sense in having a plan if you don’t execute it. Make the decision to start your new healthy lifestyle today, make a plan, and then execute it! Your body, mind, and spirit will thank you for it!
